In a basement Cabbage town, Toronto, you will find the fine bespoke shoemaker Peter Feeney. In 2006 he left a promising career in film and TV production and moved to Florence to become a cordwainer. There he assumed an strenuous apprenticeship under one of the citys masters of bespoke shoemaking, the 84-year old Calzolaio. Four years later Peter returned to Canada to set up his own custom-made shoe operation.
Peter Feeney offer footwear that could not be mass produced. In the production there are a selected number of workers and a minimum of 40 hours of labour put in every pair of shoes to ensure the highest level of quality.
Feeney’s process requires a commitment on the part of the client, involving about four visits to ensure the perfect style and fit. The shoe is built by hand in-house by Peter’s team. The whole process currently takes about six months and the price starts at $1500.
