Inspired by his well-dressed and elegant grandfather Marcus, who has given name to the company, and a love of men’s clothing and shoes led Miguel de Almeida to start his own footwear brand in 2013. Since then Marcus De has shown commitment to local manufacturing, centering the process in one of the world’s traditional shoemaking capitals: Northampton in England.
For Miguel the whole concept of the company is that Marcus De is an English brand making fine English shoes by English craftsmen and craftswomen. Even the shoeboxes are handmade and the logo on them is hand foiled in Leicester.
Miguel studied shoe design in England during the 90´s. He design the shoes directly onto the last not drawing them in 2D as is often the case. Each pair of shoes takes about 12-14 weeks to complete.
Marcus De produce shoes in a limited variation of styles that encapsulate a spirit but never prescribe to a certain look, from iconic styles to reinterpreted classics.
As you would expect from a company that’s producing footwear in England, there’s a focus on quality with the shoes being built to last a lifetime. Attention to detail is meticulous and each pair is bench-made by hand, by artisans
We are proud to have a selection of Marcus De's extraordinary footwear here at The World of Shoes.
