Ookura Emori became a businessman after his graduation from university, but he couldn't ignore his passion for shoemaking so he changed his life path and became a shoemaker. He worked at a shoe factory that made woman's shoes for half a year and then he started studying at a shoe making school in Tokyo. After his education he worked in a shoe workshop for five years before he started his own. The difference between Emori compared to other shoemakers in Japan is that Emori's shoes doesn't give the common fragile or tense impression. It is said that Emori's shoes are not for everyone but for those who understand the beauty of shoes.
