We are saddened by the news of Riccardo Freccia Bestetti, one of Italy's shoemaking greats, passing away due to illness.
According to the Instagram account of Shoegazing.se, classic shoemaker Riccardo Freccia Bestetti has passed away at a much too early age after a period of illness. He was a man with great passion for the craft, and perhaps the only Italian shoemaker who was originally schooled in making custom western boots.
He was famous for both bespoke shoemaking and his ready-to-wear styles, and highly regarded despite his relatively young age and few years in the limelight. His designs had lots of character and were true works of shoe art. Below is a selection of photos from his Instagram account @bestettishoes:
